News from New Orleans

The New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau and all hospitality and government officials are working together to monitor the path of Hurricane Gustav. We are in constant communication with the State and City Offices of Emergency Preparedness, which are fully prepared to handle all developments.

New Orleans is better prepared than at any time in its history for weather related events.

The path of Gustav and its effect on New Orleans is still uncertain.

According to The Weather Channel (www.weather.com), New Orleans’ weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend calls for sunny and partly cloudy skies with normal warm summer temperatures. There is an isolated chance of rain on Sunday, but it also looks like another nice weekend day.

Hotels and restaurants are open this weekend and most festivites for Southern Decadence are continuing, but this is obviously subject to change pending the storm track. Visitors with specific questions should contact their hotel to learn additional information and to re-confirm their individual reservation. Sunday activites, attractions, and restaurants are those most likely to be affected by the possibility of the advancing storm.

Visitors with trips planned to New Orleans in the next few days should continue to monitor this website for the latest information on hotel and airline updates as well as official news from state and city leaders.

All visitors should contact your hotel or airline for the latest information and should reconfirm  your individual reservation.

As the Hurricane enters the Gulf, all information will change rapidly. Please consult all news and travel sources as you make your travel decisions so you can make the most effective one for your needs. We will do all we can to assist you in making the best decision.
